How did your career start?

Schools Industry Partnership, Adrian Rhodes

Everyone has a unique story to tell about their career journey and how it started. Some start young working in family businesses, some work their way through higher education with a casual job on the side, some are keen to begin their fulltime working life and start with an apprenticeship or traineeship.

Students at Nepean Creative and Performing Arts High School spoke with Inspiring the future volunteers on the 11th December about how they got started with their careers, the work they do, and their career journeys so far. Each journey was different; from a troublesome 15 year old being asked to leave school to building up an international company and employing more than 100 staff, to one who went to University, changed degrees and followed a path that has shown diversity of roles across a number of sectors.

Students also heard about opportunities available to them through School Based apprenticeships, traineeships, TAFE courses and work experience. It's exciting to see and hear about all the different career pathways available for students to explore.

The biggest takeaway from the day; It is up to you to forge your own path, keep an open mind, look out for opportunities that present themselves and say YES!

Your future is in your hands!
