We asked one of our Inspiring volunteers, Sarah, to share why she got involved with  Inspiring the Future and what she loves about           inspiring young people through the program.

  1. How long have you been an Inspiring the future volunteer?

In 2022 I was introduced into the Inspiring the Future family.

  1. What made you want to sign up to volunteer with Inspiring the Future?

The kids of today have so many doors available for them in terms of opportunity that it can be extremely overwhelming. As a business leader who paved their own pathway, I feel the importance to show teenagers that there is no cookie-cutter approach to deciding a pathway beyond school.

  1. What is it about volunteering with Inspiring the Future that you really enjoy?

The diversity of interests within the school year groups is fascinating.  I learn just as much off them, as they do from me within the sessions. Hearing their ideas and pain points puts their struggles into perspective as kids who have been through the toughest few years in living history.

  1. Has your career journey taken the path you imagined it would?

I never in a million years would have thought that I would have the position or be doing what I do now as a community and business leader. I am extremely lucky to have built a supportive community of likeminded people who are as ambitious and focused as I.

  1. What is something about your career journey that has surprised you?

I have been pleasantly surprised with how effective my heart-centred leadership style has influenced a wave of positivity and acceptance amongst the businesses which I work with every day. The positive steps society has taken since COVID towards equality for parents and families in the workplace has been incredible.

  1. What is one piece of advice that you would share with young people today?

No matter what your situation is at that very present time; whether it be at home, school or work – there is always an opportunity waiting for you. Sometimes, you have to look harder than others, but it’s there. There is always a solution.
